April and May, busy at WMS!

Proof positive, if it were needed of the old adage "No such thing as bad weather, merely innapropriate clothing" has been the theme of the last couple of months at WMS. Despite some rough days and a national weather situation described as "horrible," we thunder on regardless and learn a lttle every day.

Bookings are certainly up and clients wanting weekend dates are advised to call soon as our lead time is currently 6 weeks and climbing! Weekdays are also busy, so larger groups and corporate clients should plan ahead accordingly, likewise for 1:1 and 2:1 bespoke tuition days.

There is excitement in the office as we are in the last stages of the new website developments and excitement in the house as we prepared for a move and significant developments to the business. More to come on this shortly!

Maritime Security Firearms Training

Our maritime training is going from strength to strength with a new shelter on our range to keep out the elements on our water signature targets. In addition we now offer a reduced rate for people on our refresher training who hold a previously qualification with us or elsewhere (£390 inc Vat).

Our course is widely recognized and has been praised by course participants and in the industry. We are members of SCEG, BASC and NRA. We are the only provider that allows course participants to live fire at extended range:

•      M4 Carbine Sect 1      5.56 & 7.62 bolt action rifle
•      AK variant  Sect 1       Semi auto / Pump action shotgun

The course has been designed, in conjunction with MIRIS International, for Maritime Security Operatives (MSOs) who need to provide evidence of their firearms competency to Private Maritime Security Companies (PMSCs).

New .22rf shooting gallery

Our new 'Pilgrim' .22rf gallery is now up and running. The range is dedicated to close range shooting, out to 100m using small bore rifles only and is situated away from the main range and target area. Great for families, groups and companies!

This is an excellent facility designed to introduce young people and new shooters to rifles in a safe and controlled environment using appropriate small bore rifles.

Expert Tuition

Do you need help with zero-ing, sorting out, or ballistically understand and become competent with your new rifle, scope and kit combination?

A WMS one-to-one firearms training day with expert tuition from someone who made all of "those" mistakes already and can help you avoid them. Cost wise, 1:1 days £500, 2:1 days £750 means that this is a very cost effective way of learning what you need to know fast and well.

New to Shooting?

The media presents a confused picture of shooting and hunting. Some people think both are banned? The truth is British citizens can take up shooting as a sport, a wide range of rifles and shotguns are entirely legal, subject to status and may be used for target shooting, hunting or pest control .

Our facility provides you with a safe, legal way to have a day’s shooting, prior to deciding if you want to own rifles and what you really need. It's pay as you go, no membership fees, we take responsibility and provide everything you need. 

Try our Sniper for the Day Experience, a perfect one day comprehensive and fun introduction to shooting. This day is also designed to test the skills of experienced shooters too. £220 gets you started for a full day of shooting (includes tuition, gun hire, ammunition). Also available as a gift certificate.

Zoos and Wildlife Management

We are currently the only commercial provider of specialist large mammal destruction training in the UK.  

We teach you how to deal with the risks, decide on the correct equipment and know how to use it safely, so you can confidently and humanely deal with animal incidents.

We offer a two day course year round in our training room and range in Llanidloes or we can come to you for onsite training. Please call for information and bookings

Corporate Entertainment / Training

Clay pigeon shooting became the “new golf” in corporate entertainment. Now rifle shooting presents a great new experience to add to corporate days. WMS Steel Challenge can handle days from 4 and 30 clients  offering new skills, challenges, experience and fun.

On larger days you can shoot from 50 to 750 metres at reactive steel targets which inform and entertain all present with loud clangs and various reactions when hit. It takes team work to make the longer shots and you will all gain a great deal from the day.

We can tailor a range day to suit you, from team building exercises to shooting competitions.
