STEEL CHALLENGE SHOOTING FACILITY

Just how good a rifle shot do you want to be? If you really want to prepare for the hunt, or the shot of a lifetime you wont do it from a shooting bench, or prone at X hundred metres on a formal range.

Little groups dont bring home the venison, a single good shot in 3-9 inch kill zone does: 5-4-3-2 bang! Can YOU make the shot? Knowledge, Preparation and Practice are the keys to success.

We are a private sporting facility, NOT a public range.

We offer a real education in practical rifle shooting at infinitely variable ranges out to as far as you can shoot. A variety of life size targets from crows to large mammals in bullet resistant steel. Instant shot recording by the spotter through sounds, strike and some moving parts. Shooting from all practical position, up and down hill to 40 degrees of angle.

Our main facility is 5000 acres with 20 miles of internal roads and tracks. You can drive around with a car full of kit or walk for miles in challenging upland countryside. Most clients do a mixture of both. You learn to find the targets, judge the range, dope the wind, find a suitable position and......make the shot! Clients normally fire between 50 and 200 rounds a day, dependant on calibre and purpose.

Your instructor will advise, spot for you, assist you and improve your shooting ability as you go along. Test and zero to all practical ranges, become a better, safer shot.

Try us for a day or book us for the weekend. Shooting is generally done in pairs, shoot / spot - spot / shoot as the best way to learn the most from this great experience. If there are 8 of you, 4 will be shooting at any one time. We quote individually for larger groups, corporate or social events

Facilities:

We have toilet facilites, lecture, catering and workshop / bench facilites. Clients can camp, caravan and bivvy on site by arrangement. Contact us for local B&B and hotel lists and recommendations.

There are some covered firing points / areas for shooting out to 500 metres.

Other activities locally: bird watching (really!) fishing, Yamaha Off Road Experience, Quad biking, clay shooting, game and rough shooting and all holiday activities. Aberystwyth has more pubs, clubs and hotels per capita than most places.

We are based East of Aberystwyth, 4 hours drive from London, 2 hours from Chester, Manchester, Birmingham and South Wales. Collection / drop off from Aberystwyth train / bus station no problem.

Estate rifles and ammunition are available for use at reasonable rates.

Sites / shooting will vary according to weather, requirements and local conditions. We shoot as we hunt, in all weathers!

Certificate conditions will be checked and adhered to in all cases. To comply your condition should read something like:......authorised to zero on suitable land over which the holder has permission to shoot.... Or: ..firearms may be used on suitable ranges subject to appropriate insurance being in place....

Permission will be temporary and by the day, accompanied in all cases.
