We are currently offering 3 levels of training courses:
1) Maritime Firearms Training Courses (MFTC)
This course has been specifically designed in conjunction with MIRIS International for Maritime Security Operatives (MSOs) who need to provide evidence of their firearms competency to Private Maritime Security Companies (PMSCs). All attendees must have a minimum of three years infantry experience, OR have been employed in a police firearms unit. The course is live fire and includes 7.62 bolt action shooting from 100 to 400 metres at reactive steel targets with water backdrops.
Our course is widely recognised throughout the industry by companies such as MIRIS International, Securewest International, Orchid Maritime Ltd, Solace Global Maritime, Ocean Protection Services and many others.
Our ex-special forces instructor has sucessfully trained over 800 people in the past 18 months. We are members of SCEG, BASC and the NRA.
See below for full course details.
Any PMSC company who is not familiar with our course and facilities are welcome to spend a complimentary day experiencing the MFTC course to see what we have to offer, alternatively feel free to talk to us about what type of bespoke training we can offer your company.
2) Maritime Firearms Familiarisation (for Maritime Security Personnel Only)
A bespoke one day introductory course for those who have a background in the military or police but without infantry experience and therefore do not meet the criteria for direct entry on the MFTC. This course gives you the skills and experience you require to become eligible to complete the MFTC. This course is not open to the general public. Please see our other training courses for general range days offered.
3) Maritime Firearms Refresher Course for previous graduates
We are now offerring this course as requested by the industry in order to refresh and revalidate the previous years course certificate. It will be live fire focused with more input designed to increase client knowledge of longer range marksmanship skills, scope reticules and use of hold over for elevation and deflection. The course is designed to both refresh and add skills to our Maritime Firearms Competancy Course. Graduates of other maritime courses are invited to attend this course.
The course cost is £390.00 per person including VAT.
Please call for further details.
Maritime Firearms Training Course Details
The MFTC one day course training programme begins with the use of a semi-automatic M4 colt platform in .22rf. After refreshing Normal Safety Precautions (NSP's) and marksmanship principles, the emphasis is very much on rapid target acquisition from a variety of fire positions enabling students to re-familiarise themselves with safe firearms practices.
This is followed with a shotgun demo using both solid slug and buckshot to highlight the capabilities and limitations of this system. Student participation is included.
The remainder of the course is very much focused on long range marksmanship using a variety of 7.62/.308 bolt action platforms in Section One FAC format. Further training is conducted at ranges from 100 – 400 metres and in various firing positions to simulate firing from a vessel.
The programme culminates in a number of maritime scenario shoots, enhanced by the use of small craft on water as the target from an elevated firing position.
The aim of the MFTC is to provide potential and current MSOs with the required basic skills to safely operate various firearm systems on board a vessel transiting the HRA.
Any attendees who do not reach the required standard will be advised to attend further firearms training before being awarded the MFTC Certificate.
